What happens in an emergency data request?

When someone's life is at immediate risk, we can act on an emergency request from law enforcement without waiting for a warrant.

These situations are rare and serious. For example:

  • A child or vulnerable adult has been abducted
  • Someone is missing and believed to be in danger
  • A person has threatened to harm themselves and has driven off
  • There is a credible, immediate threat of violence against someone

We review every emergency request rather than treating the label as automatic, and we provide only what is needed to address the emergency.

If you need help right now, call 911. This process is for law enforcement seeking data, not a way to reach us faster. If you are on the account, you can already see your vehicle's location in the app and tell responders yourself.

This is separate from Miles Guard. If Miles detects a crash, Guard's monitoring center calls you and can dispatch help directly, in seconds, with no legal request involved.
